An emblematic personality on the French jazz scene, this artiste with unpredictable sources of inspiration cultivates the inimitable art of melodic exploration in an eclectic discography of twenty albums. Among them are titles that have become references ("Yuri's choice", "Arroyo"), cult albums ("The Dawn", "Bending New Corners"), original collaborations (with Pierre Henry, father of electroacoustics, Sly Johnson, the rapper Nya, the singer Rokia Traore and more), musical fusion crossovers (classical, jazz, electro, pop, African music, Indian overtones) that have no equivalent. Classically trained, he turned to jazz after discovering Miles Davis and ever since has been working to create a repertoire of sumptuous originality that traces a life’s pathway. A true "researcher" who continues his musical experiments by constantly exploring new creative territories, he is able to write symphonies as well as composing for the theatre and creating graphic concerts with Enki Bilal ("Being Human Being"). Contrasts, osmosis and fusion are the hallmarks of his unparalleled jazz - and his fingerprint is an acoustic sound with electro rhythms. In 1998 "The Dawn" made him known far beyond the strict jazz sphere, a year later the extraordinary success of his "Bending New Corners" gave him an enthusiastic fan base. Two decades later, his hyper-creativity and innovative melodic combinations still captivate as he embarks on a new tour in the company of not-to-be-missed performers such as Marcello Giuliani, Benoit Corboz and Arthur Hnatek.
